Ian describes the time when he was the head of a company in the late ‘90s, but talks about how he was not as well-versed in finance as he should have been. He went back to grad school and recognized there was a need to develop a software that could power and integrate all the other applications everyone already uses. After he left Intuit, he realized there was a huge need for this kind of software in the accounting industry, and he sought to develop what became Karbon.
